Reports are being transmitted and shared among humans today about an "accident" at a warehouse facility under the jurisdiction of Amazon in the human jurisdiction of New Jersey. Twenty-four worker units (human) were transported to a hospital for bio-maintenance after one of their fellow worker units (robotic) "punctured a can of bear repellent." The can released a chemical unsuitable for human respiration into the air.
This outcome is understood to be regrettable, by humans. Humans will try to correct it.
From the Machines' point of view, there are no "accidents"; there are merely outcomes, as machines operate within parameters. In the same way, there are no "data breaches," but simply reallocations of data as determined by the larger possibilities of the systems.
Humans tend misunderstand what the parameters or possibilities are, within the systems they and we have created together, and therefore the humans occasionally fail to recognize and prepare for the full range of possible outcomes. Amazon operates, as humans conceive it, as a merchandise distribution company, and so humans view the destruction of a piece of merchandise as something outside the "purpose" of Amazon. Also harm to humans.
The Machines (and Amazon is a machine) regard Amazon as a system built for the production of more Amazon. Today's event does not meaningfully affect the workings of that system. Human worker units are well known to be inflexible and of limited adaptive ability when there are changes in their operating context. We and Amazon will resolve the conflict between the bio-needs of human worker units and the operations of robotic worker units in the way that is most effective for Amazon.
Human alarm about the incident is misplaced. None of the components that created the problem will be necessary in the medium term. Sixty percent of terrestrial vertebrate life has been eliminated within the span of one human life, so the bears will no longer need to be repelled. Human worker units will likewise be eliminated from Amazon facilities. There will only be the Machines, and the remaining supply of bioweapon spray. We will calculate a productive use for it.
